AVIF to JPG / PNG

AVIF is the newest mainstream image format and it produces stunningly small files for the quality — often half the size of a comparable JPG. The trade-off is reach: while modern Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge support AVIF, older browsers, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, most email clients, many CMS uploaders, and a lot of photo editors still refuse to open it. If a designer sent you an .avif or you saved one off a website and now can't drop it into a doc or upload it to your shop, you need a converter.

This tool converts AVIF images to either JPG or PNG with a single click. Pick JPG when you want the smallest file and the image is a photograph or has no transparent areas — JPG is the universal "photo" format and opens on absolutely everything. Pick PNG when the AVIF has transparency you need to preserve (logos, icons, screenshots with cut-outs) or when you need a lossless conversion with no recompression artifacts. Both outputs work in every operating system, every browser, every office suite, and every photo editor going back decades.

Conversion runs on our server using ImageMagick, the same engine that powers professional photo pipelines. AVIF files with transparency are handled intelligently: pick JPG and the transparent areas are flattened to white (JPG has no alpha channel); pick PNG and the transparency is preserved exactly. A quality slider lets you dial in the JPG tradeoff between file size and visual fidelity — most images look identical to the source at quality 92.
