PNG to SVG — Trace Images Into Editable Vectors
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is the format the modern web runs on for logos, icons, and illustrations. Unlike PNG or JPG — which are made of fixed pixels and blur the moment you scale them up — SVG describes shapes with math, so they stay razor-sharp at any size and weigh a fraction of an equivalent high-resolution bitmap. This tool converts your existing raster images into true vector SVG paths in your browser, no software install required.
Under the hood we use an in-browser image tracer that analyzes the pixels in your PNG, groups them into a small number of color regions, and traces the outline of each region into a smooth Bezier path. The output is a single .svg file you can drop straight into Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Sketch, or any web page. Because everything runs locally in your browser, your image never leaves your device — ideal for client logos, internal mocks, and confidential brand assets.
Four presets cover the most common jobs: Line Art (2 colors, black on white — perfect for sketches and signatures), Logo (8 flat colors — best for typical brand marks), Poster (16 colors — stylized illustrations), and Photo (32 colors — more detail at the cost of larger file size). Fine-tune the result with the Colors and Smoothing sliders to balance fidelity against file size. Tracing photos rarely produces a "better" file than the original PNG, but for logos, icons, simple illustrations, and line art, the SVG output is dramatically smaller, infinitely scalable, and fully editable.
How It Works
Upload Your Image
Drag and drop a PNG, JPG, or WebP, or click to browse your files.
Pick a Preset
Choose Line Art, Logo, Poster, or Photo — or adjust Colors and Smoothing manually.
Download SVG
Preview the trace side-by-side with the original, then download a clean .svg file.
Why Use Our Tool?
True Vector Output
Generates real SVG paths, not just a PNG embedded inside an SVG wrapper. Resize without losing quality.
Side-by-Side Preview
Compare the original and traced result before downloading so you can dial in the right level of detail.
Four Quality Presets
Line Art, Logo, Poster, and Photo presets cover the most common conversion jobs in a single click.
Adjustable Colors
Set how many distinct colors the trace uses (2–64) to balance detail against file size.
Edge Smoothing
Smoothing slider eliminates jagged stair-step edges typical of raster-to-vector conversions.
100% Private
Tracing runs entirely in your browser. Your image is never uploaded or stored on any server.
