CSV is the universal exchange format for tabular data. Almost every database, BI tool, accounting package and programming language can ingest a CSV file directly — which is why so many workflows ultimately need one. Our Excel to CSV converter takes any modern Excel workbook (XLSX, XLSM, XLSB), legacy XLS, or OpenDocument ODS file and turns the sheet you pick into a clean, properly-escaped CSV.

The conversion runs entirely in your browser using the battle-tested SheetJS parser. Your spreadsheet never leaves your device — no upload, no server, no risk of leaking sensitive financial, HR or customer data. Open a multi-sheet workbook and you can flip between sheets one click at a time to export each one independently.

The output is RFC 4180 compliant: fields that contain commas, quotes or newlines are correctly wrapped in double quotes, internal quotes are doubled, and rows are joined with the line ending of your choice (LF for Linux/macOS or CRLF for legacy Windows). A UTF-8 byte order mark can be prepended so that accented characters, currency symbols and non-Latin scripts render correctly the moment the file opens in Excel on Windows. You can also choose between comma, semicolon, tab or pipe as a delimiter — handy for European locales where Excel expects semicolons.
