GIF to Images — Extract Every Frame as PNG or JPG

An animated GIF is really a flipbook — a sequence of still frames stitched together with timing data. There are countless reasons you might want those frames back as individual image files: editing a single frame in Photoshop, building a sprite sheet for a game, picking the perfect still for a thumbnail, archiving the source images of an old animation, or feeding the frames into a video editor that doesn't accept GIF natively.

This tool reads your GIF using ImageMagick — the same engine professional pipelines use — and exports each frame as a standalone image. We "coalesce" the GIF first, which means every frame is rendered as a complete, full-canvas image rather than the partial diff that GIF stores internally. The result is that every PNG or JPG in the ZIP looks exactly like the corresponding frame would look while the animation plays, with no missing pixels or transparent gaps where the previous frame should be.

Pick PNG when you want a lossless copy of every frame and want to preserve any transparency from the source GIF. Pick JPG when you only need photographic frames and want the smallest possible ZIP — JPG flattens transparency onto a solid background, so it's perfect for live-action GIFs but not ideal for GIFs with cut-out shapes. Frames are numbered in playback order with zero-padding so they sort correctly in every file manager.

Your GIF is processed in memory and never stored. The output ZIP is delivered straight back to your browser.

    Why Use Our Tool?

    Every Frame Extracted

Splits the GIF into every individual frame — none skipped, none merged.

    PNG or JPG Output

Pick lossless PNG to keep transparency, or compact JPG for smaller archives.

    Coalesced Frames

Each frame is rendered as a complete image, not the partial diff that GIF stores internally.

    Zero-Padded Numbering

Filenames are numbered with leading zeros so frames sort in correct playback order.

    Single ZIP Download

All frames are bundled in one ZIP — no clicking download for every file.

    Private & Secure

Your GIF is processed in memory and never stored on our servers.
